Miley Cyrus Sings Along to ‘High School Musical,’ Hilary Duff Classics in More Disney Throwbacks

It seems Miley Cyrus isn’t quite done with her Disney Channel throwbacks.

The pop star recently took to her Instagram Story (and later, Twitter) to share clips of her singing along to some of the ’00s hits from Disney Channel Original Movie High School Musical, and from fellow Disney child star, Hilary Duff. Wearing a bucket hat as she held onto a cardboard cup, Cyrus energetically sang along to HSM’s “Breaking Free,” tagging Zac Effron and Vanessa Hudgens, who performed the song together in the 2006 teen drama. She added a note that read, “This shaped a fucking generation.”

Cyrus — who made a brief cameo in HSM 2 — then played the first movie’s “Stick to the Status Quo” song, tagging Ashley Tisdale. She also wrote a large hashtag on the video: “#NoQuo.” “I’m glad in 2019 we’re challenging this garbage,” she said in the snippet.

To cap off the throwbacks, the Hannah Montana protagonist emoted the lyrics to Duff’s 2003 classic “So Yesterday” while mouthing the slow-tempo pop track.

The 26-year-old recently celebrated the 13th anniversary of Hannah Montana by putting on a blonde wig and sangalong to her own classics, as well as captioning a selfie of the moment with a modern twist to the kids show, “Hannah is punk now!”
